Some Florida purchases :D

4 queen size rolls of batting (4th one is behind the bigger roll on the bottom) and a bolt of lightweight iron-on interfacing - I go through a LOT of these items :D  I hate the feel of the 80/20 batting at the bottom, but I needed more to finish a project that's already underway :)

230 zippers.  No, that's not a typo, and yes, it's possible I may have a wee zipper addiction :)  The entire order was for 335 of them, but 105 were for a friend, LOL.  These are all from the delightful Zipit on Etsy - thanks Jennie!

Vinyl mesh for making bags and totes :)  The lime green was purchased @ a quilt store, and the off white and black were gifts from a friend - thanks Heather no-blog!

Some fabrics from Quilttaffy on Etsy :)  The green on top is Frog Prince linen (from Japan) ... the two below are Bento Box/Shrimp by Robert Kaufman :)

A mish mash post :)

Apparently people need help figuring out what the marks on a measuring tape represent.  Those darn measuring tape designers - drawing the lines in Sanskrit instead of English!  63 repins so far ... I'm flabbergasted that there are that many people that need help figuring out a measuring tape.  FLABBERGASTED!

While we were in Florida we decided to try some turducken @ the Alpine Steak House :)  Was it good?  Yes.  Would I order it again? No.  It was OK, but not really anything special.

It pretty much just tasted like turkey - it didn't jump up and scream +DUCK! +CHICKEN!  at me.  I'm very glad I tried it though - now I can cross that off my bucket list ;)

Here are a few projects I've finished since we got back from vacation - most of these are going to Blue Hills :)

Orange blossom pencil pouches :)

Veggie pencil pouches :)

Front zip pouches :)

Earbud pouches :)

Threading My Way fabric basket (with handles added) :)

Santa Sack :)

Blasted pouch - this is the twin of the one that drove me to a temper tantrum the other day!  IT went into the garbage - this one worked out fine, lol.

iPad and pencil pouches :)

Pencil pouch and business card holder :)

Back from Florida ... and a discovery

Our new friend Conchy :)
Had a great time in Pennsylvania and Florida - spent time visiting family and friends, and met some long-time internet sewy buddies as well :)   We were away for 2 weeks, so I was VERY glad to get home to my boys and house!  Wasn't very impressed leaving sunny weather and then driving through a major snowstorm in PA, then cold (but less snowy) weather in NY and here in Ontario - BRRRRR!

Sarasota Kennel Club - I won $67.50!
Took a few days to clean the house and unpack, and then started to organize my fabricy
-crafty  purchases.  It'll take a while to get it all put away - I'll just do it bit by bit.  I'll have to post a picture of my zipperS purchase ;)

The beach @ Siesta Key :)
Sat down at the sewing machine today but it was one of those days  where nothing goes right - it ended in a very juvenile (but cathartic!) temper tantrum in my basement - thankfully I was alone!  I discovered that when you're that far into the abyss, you can turn on the shop vac to vacuum the floor and your screaming will be completely covered by the noise of the motor - BRILLIANT!  Threw the project in the garbage and came upstairs to start supper - hopefully THAT goes better :D

Quicky post

I have a million things to do today, so will throw these photos up so I can cross "take care of project pics" off my To Do list :D

Stack of SMS zipper pouches (iPad and pencil pouch size) that I'm taking to Florida :D

Such pretty colours - I love these colours!  Pictured here are 4 iPad pouches + 6 sets of iPad + pencil pouch :)

A couple of small zipper pouches :)

Two small zipper bags (finishing off fabrics) :)

Earbud pouches I'm taking on our trip - these are a gift for someone we're visiting :D

The Canada tote I made for our trip - it measures 14.5w x 13t x 4d :)

The camera is working overtime :D

Today I'll be working with the red/white maple leaf fabric - I want to make a quick tote for our Florida trip.  While trying to fall asleep last night (hubby was snoring like crazy, and because he hurt his back, I couldn't poke him to make him to roll over!) I came up with an idea for the pockets - will try it out today :D   P.S. I ended up sleeping in the spare bedroom to get some peace and quiet, lol.

Here are a few more recent finishes :)

A second lemons pouch set - iPad and pencil pouch size - tutorial by Kristin Link/Sew Mama Sew :)

On the fly ...

Quicky Easter drawstring gift bags :)
Headed out to a baby shower so will be spending time with hubby's family today.  Got some little Easter gifties ready to take to Nonna to give to the kids in time for Easter (we'll be away for half of March so I wanted things done early).  Last night while I was sleeping I came up with a quick and easy way to wrap the gifts, and this morning I whipped up 4 simple drawstring bags from a $ store vinylish Easter tablecloth I had in the china cabinet :)  Ta DA!  Ta DONE!

Insert witty post title here :)

I'm with Wendy - it's hard coming up with post titles - sometimes no title is the BEST (easiest) title, lol! Here are a few projects I've finished in the last couple of days - most of the baskets are heading to their new home tomorrow so I had to get them done and photographed before they left :)  One of my SIL's requested a pink measuring tape bag to give to her daughter's daycare girl - I found some really pretty pink fat quarters in stash and finished 2 bags - one for the little girl, and one for Blue Hills :)  Except for a few scraps, those FQ's are now history --- 2 down, ??? to go ;)

Measuring tape (mtape) boxed bottom bags :)

The current UFO I'm working on -- it's the first one on the list of UFO's I want to finish this year, and the third one I've worked on so far in 2013 :)  I've stitched all the blocks together, and will be trying a new technique for the border :)

Fabric baskets 5.5" x 5.5" x 3.5" --- tutorial here :)  These are gifts :) I used the sizing from the tutorial, but added handles so all the kids can tote them around - even the babies :)

More fabric baskets - tutorial from Pam @ Threading My Way - these ones are gifts and will be delivered to the general vicinity of the recipients tomorrow (meaning most of them are going to Nonna, LOL) :)
I was able to cut 4 baskets from each of the 2 outer fabrics and the lining, so I have 2 more kitted to sew later.  Very cute tutorial - quick and easy!  These have Warm and Natural batting inside to give them some body, and I added handles (cut 4" x 10", but I think 4" x 9" will be better next time) :)
